George A. Pavlopoulos holds a degree in Informatics from the University of Athens, an MRes in Bioinformatics from the University of Leeds (UK), and a PhD in Bioinformatics from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL-Heidelberg). He also earned an MBA jointly awarded by the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

His professional experience includes postdoctoral research positions in bioinformatics at KU Leuven (Belgium), the University of Crete, and later at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, USA.

Since 2018, George has served as a bioinformatics consultant for various companies in the United States. He was appointed Principal Investigator in Bioinformatics and elected member of the Scientific Council at the Biomedical Sciences Research Center “Alexander Fleming” in Athens.

As of 2024, he holds the position of Director of Research at the same institute and is also CEO and co-founder of BioInnovation Greece. His contributions to the field of bioinformatics have earned him international recognition, including ranking among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in his field. He has secured competitive research grants, organized numerous international conferences, and published extensively in leading journals including NatureCellScienceNucleic Acids Research (NAR), and Nature Biotechnology.
